The modular, 3.6lb. camera body makes for amazing flexibility when using small zoom or prime lenses. Fantastic low light ability, 12 stops of dynamic range and a base ISO 850 make shooting in all kinds of lighting conditions easy. The proven Canon XF 4:2:2, 50Mbps in-board codec make external recorders unnecessary and provide files robust enough for grading and color correction in post-production.
The Canon C300 PL is a true Digital Cine camera optimized for video needs with moire, aliasing and global shutter artifacts significantly reduced compared to DSLR cameras. Video camera features such as XLR audio inputs, internal ND filters, time code, HD-SDI and HDMI full HD video monitoring and audio monitoring, extensive camera setup control with customizable scene files make the C300 PL versatile and flexible, yet easy to shoot with. There are many selectable gamma options such as Cinema and Canon Log, which allows for wide latitude in all lighting conditions.
Extensive detail, matrix and color correction menus are also available for total image manipulation.
The rigid PL-mount is the Cine standard, allowing the use of movie lenses that feature smooth manual iris control, precise, non-breathing manual focus with accurate distance markings for repeatable results, zooms that hold focus throughout the focal range, no ramping and very robust housings. Modern SLR lenses are not made for precise manual focus, have no iris ring and must be re-focused every time the focal length is changed when zooming.
The orientable 4" LCD display in addition to the ocular electronic viewfinder has focus assist options, zebras, waveform/ vectorscope. Using two CF memory cards, the C300 PL can record for hours at a time, spanning from one card to the next or can record simultaneously on two cards. There are slo-mo, high speed, time-lapse, pre-record and stop-motion recording modes. Power consumption is half or less than competing cameras for convenient, uninterrupted shooting.
